Silk twilly "Sunflowers" yellow

Sunflowers are the real hallmark of the artist. He has as many as eleven such paintings, each of them being deeply individual. We have placed a part of each of these works on the twilli. All the “Sunflowers” on one canvas. Sunflowers had a special sense for the master. He created two cycles of paintings depicting them: Parisian (1887) and Arles (1888). Vincent adored this flower and considered it to be a symbol of gratitude. The yellow colour itself was associated with friendship and hope. The sunflowers painted with energetic strokes produce the impression of real ones – their flexible stems are in constant motion, they pulsate, swell, grow, ripen and wither in front of the viewer.

He wrote that all the surrounding nature is alive for him, and did not divide objects into “living” and “non-living” beings. The “soul” of the sunflower was particularly in tune with the artist. The flower that lives in harmony with the cosmic rhythms and turns its head following the movements of the sun was perceived by the artist as the embodiment of the interconnection of all things, large and small, the space and the earth.

Van Gogh had an amazing ability to feel colours with extreme accuracy. Every colour shade was associated with a set of images and concepts, thoughts and feelings. Each stroke on the canvas was equal to a word in a sentence. Van Gogh’s favourite yellow colour was the embodiment of joy, kindness, benevolence, energy, fertility of the earth and life-giving warmth of the sun. That is why the artist was so happy to move to the south, to Arles – the kingdom of the generous sun, to a warm and bright “yellow house”.

All living beings grow and ripen under the sunrays, but any ripening is naturally and inevitably followed by withering, which is common knowledge. Van Gogh realized these simple truths with every fiber.
